Seyfarth Synopsis: Democrats now control both houses of the New York Legislature as well as the Governor’s office. Among the host of expected legislation, the anticipated passage of the Child Victim Act (“CVA”) is likely to have a significant impact on many of New York’s institutions. What is the Child Victim Act?

Background

A U.S. Bankruptcy Court (the “Bankruptcy Court”) recently enjoined a Hong Kong-based investor from exercising its shareholder purchase rights in an Asian joint venture.[1] The Bankruptcy Court’s order also prevents the investor from proceeding with litigation to enforce its rights in a Hong Kong court. The Stay
