The Dutch arm of Taco Bell has been declared bankrupt, marking the fast food chain's second collapse in the Netherlands in less than a decade, RTL reports. Ten restaurants across the country, including in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague, have been forced to close. However, the company said it remains committed to keeping the restaurants open. On Wednesday, the Rotterdam district court officially declared T Bello Nederland bankrupt. The company operated all Dutch Taco Bell locations under a franchise agreement with a British operator.

Blokker will open 40 stores in the Netherlands to rebuild the retail store chain that was declared bankrupt last year, the NL Times reported. The first 12 new stores opened on Wednesday. The rest will open in the coming weeks, the store chain reported. Blokker was declared bankrupt in November of last year. The chain, which was founded in 1896, was dealing with continuous losses and issues regarding the payments of debts before the bankruptcy. Around 45 of the company’s 400 stores remained open during the bankruptcy.

A total of 271 companies were declared bankrupt, marking the lowest number in over a year and a half. This represents a 20 percent decrease compared to March 2024 and a 25 percent drop from February 2025. However, bankruptcies in the hospitality sector are on the rise. The bankruptcy rate in March 2025 stood at 7.4 bankruptcies per 100,000 businesses, a decrease from the 9.5 rate recorded in March 2024.
