The Trade Marks Act, which came into force on 1 September 2015, was recently amended to permit entities established as general partnerships to register as trade mark agents. Registered trade mark agents are required to have a substantial knowledge of trade mark law and professional competence and we are delighted that Conyers has qualified as a registered trade mark agent.

Alert: New UK Law Will Require Public Disclosure of Individuals Anywhere in the World Who Control UK Companies

From 6 April 2016, most UK companies and limited liability partnerships will be required to identify and keep a register of any individuals – i.e., human beings – who ultimately control them, wherever in the world those individuals are located. Antibribery Alert - Successful Prosecutions in the United Kingdom

In a busy week for the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), the United Kingdom’s antibribery prosecutor, it has announced its first-ever deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) for bribery offences and the first guilty plea under the U.K. Bribery Act (UKBA). Both matters involved the application of the much heralded, but still infrequently enforced, corporate offense of failure to prevent bribery by associated persons, under Section 7 of the UKBA.
