The State of Play on Say on Pay in Canada in 2012
The number of Canadian companies which are voluntarily providing their shareholders with the opportunity to vote on say on pay continues to increase, and the majority of those companies receive approval levels in excess of 90%. However, so far this year four companies have received less than 70% approval, including one company whose say on pay resolution was defeated. As shareholders continue to focus on executive pay, Canadian issuers should continue to engage with their shareholders on this topic.
