Section 103(a) of the Code makes chapter 1 and the section 108(a) tolling provision applicable in chapter 15. The date of recognition is deemed the date for the order for relief under section 108. The tolling provision provides the foreign representative an opportunity to pursue claims in the U.S. bankruptcy proceeding. Section 108 tolled nonbankruptcy claims arising under Norwegian law and prior to recognition of Norwegian liquidation.
